Re: Pv rides by lee high on burkes pitching

I don't know about the other night but i do know that i was attending a practice when the head coach had his Jugs Gun out and seen and heard some of the speeds. Burke i seen did hit 84 beleive it or not. I think a Mullins kid in the 9th hit in the 70's some control problems. A tall red headed kid in the 9th was hitting 77-78 some control troble. A kid everyone was calling Jug someone said was in the 8th hit 77. The Huff kid 8th grader low 70's and the Fannon kid 10th in the middle to high 70's. So if the Jugs gun is accurate it is true.

Regardless if these kids throw 9 or 98 what does it matter?
Unless they throw pefect games from here out, as soon as someone gets a hit, scores runs, beats these kids or any kids for that matter, you're gonna be reminded of these posts. And these are great kids man, with great poteintial, now when they take the mound they are gonna try and throw every picth a 100 MPH just in hopes of someone sayin "So-in-So is throw X MPH" and when they dont or if they dont, some commenter will remind you, trust me.. But hey what do I know.

The tall red headed kid is Ryan Baker-freshman (he has been clocked at 78-80), his brother is the Jug kid, eighth grader-clocked at 75-77, that I know of. The Mullins kid is mine-(freshman)-75-77 is the most he has been clocked at...Jake Huff is an eighth grader and can throw close to that...I say "clocked at"-don't know the real speed...

so yeah, it would be possible for Kenny Burke to throw what they said.

If these boys gain some control, it will be great...but mine is all over the place right now. I wish he would concentrate on throwing strikes instead of trying to throw as hard as he can. Most of the ones his age get wild when they throw hard. But it's that age where everyone wants to see how hard they can throw...(just like yankeebaseball said)

-pitching is mostly mental- when you are having a good day, that speed is great, if you are having an off day, doesn't do you a bit of good-who cares how fast you can throw if you can't throw strikes, is what I tell my son. I wish my kid wouldn't pitch at all (mostly because of all the pressure it puts on them)...but he loves it. He needs alot more practice and experience.

the best thing for parents, kids, girlfriends, boyfriends, coaches, etc. to do is to not get on here bragging about kids and their performances. you are only setting them up for failure later on when they don't produce according to expectations.

if you get on here saying how fast some kid throws then that only serves as motivation to the kids on the other teams who will face that pitcher. you think you are helping that kid get noticed, but you are not. you are actually making it harder on the kid.

let the kids play the game.

parents, no one is telling you not to be proud of your kid, but let their performance speak for itself.

as for throwing 82-85 mph, what does it matter? what should be important is how the team performs. when was the last time the lpd won a state championship in baseball? how many lpd players play d1 baseball?

Throw strikes...and if the arms last and grow stronger, who knows. But get the ball over and vary the speed. Good luck, guys.

That's my big concern, I hope some of these boys don't hurt their arm by trying to outdo each other...you see little league kids trying to throw that fast and tryiing to throw nothing but curves. I worry about what they are doing to their arms.

As a woman, I have to say it is in the male nature to try and outdo each other...haha...just part of your all's charm, though. And it's the worst in the teenage years when everyone is watching you...lol.

I'm the first to tell mine when he tells me how fast he can throw that that doesn't matter if he can't control it. I worry about the amount of pressure placed on some of these young kids. A good game to me is when they do their best and feel good about themselves and they don't get hurt.
